Letter

Though I physically, mentally, and spiritually left the SDA church about a year ago, I still have the formality of a formal resignation letter to get my name off the books. I realise I want to get my name off the books though it seems like the Pastor is not going to accept my formal resignation easily.

To the Pastor ________ and Board of _________ SDA Church

Please withdraw my membership from the Seventh Day Adventist Church. I no longer and have not for more than a year now believed in the "distinctive" doctrines of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. I will enumerate as follows:

1) The Investigative Judgement:

I believe this is unbiblical and denies the complete atonement by Christ on the Cross. Look in the book of Hebrews and you will see where God already deemed the saints of the Old Testament righteous. It is absurd on its face that God would later in 1844 need to reexamine the "books" of their lives when the Bible already states God found them righteous. God knows who are His. He does not need to spend what has now been over 163 years pouring over books of the lives of believers. He is God and knows EVERYTHING. The Investigative Judgment was concocted to cover the date setting error by William Miller which was in disobedience of the very words of Christ warning not to set the date for His return. The "Great Disappointment" would not have happened if they would have obeyed Christ's words not to set the date for His return.

2) The Great Controversy:

This is also untrue. There is NO controversy between God and Satan, it's over and God already WON when His Son Jesus drew His last breath on the Cross. God is SOVEREIGN over EVERYTHING and is so Holy, Mighty, and Just, I find the very idea that He would need to be vindicated before anyone or anything offencive.

3) The Sabbath:

I still keep Sabbath and would agree it IS one of the commandments. However, I do NOT believe it is the Seal of God, the Bible says the Seal of God is the Holy Spirit, "Grieve ye not the Holy Spirit by whom ye have been sealed", says the Bible. Sabbath will NOT be the final test, Christ and the Gospel are the final test. As for the Sunday Law teaching, that is not Biblical but 100% from the imagination of Ellen White. I find it spritually abusive. I myself was traumatised by the Sunday Law doctrine to the point where I would pray to God to let me die before the Sunday Laws came because I didn't think I could make it. I also think the Sunday Law doctrine has the potential to foment intolerance towards people we should consider as Brothers and Sisters in Christ, not enemies that are going to torture and
persecute.

3) Ellen White:

I believe Mrs. White was a sincere Christian who truly loved the Lord. I do not, however, consider her as "inspired" or having "the Spirit of Prophecy" and I do not consider her writings as a continuing source of inspiration and truth. She counterdicts herself and the Bible in many places. As for me all I need is the Bible and Holy Spirit to help me understand it. I do NOT believe Mrs. White had "visions" from God, I concurr with the opinion of many of the physicians who attended her(some who were in fact SDA themselves) that her "visions" were nothing more
than hallucinations caused by her medical problems

4) The "Remnant Church":

The remnant is NOT confined to the SDA church but is found in ALL true believers and followers of Christ. As for the Laodecian Church idea, this is a misinterpretation of Revelation. Read Revelation carefully. IS the Laodecian Church the Church you REALLY want to be in? I don't.

That said, I will always love the people of this church, and wish to remain friends. Be assured that no one has done anything to hurt or offend me, this is PURELY about doctrine and theology. I do not feel I can be in the SDA Church and maintain my integrity, given that I reject the above doctrines wholeheartedly.

I have made up my mind. Please do not make any visitations unless for purely social reasons, and I do not want any Bible studies. Please grant this request to remove my name from the membership rolls within a reasonable timeframe.

Sincerely,

Reb
